How important is your mattress?
Have you ever thought about how much time you actually spend in bed? Can you imagine - a third of your life! This is why we know you’ll agree that it is extremely important to spend or sleep the time well.
So, choose a quality mattress!
What is a quality mattress like?
Because we are exposed to numerous stresses and strains throughout the day, it is vital for our bodies to relax and regenerate during the night. This can only be achieved with a mattress that perfectly adapts to individual body shapes, and provides support exactly where the body needs it.
And if the mattress is of low quality, bad or worn out?
Over time, the following symptoms can occur:
- insomnia
- irritability
- anxiety
- restlessness
- pain in the spine, back and neck,
- awaken tired and still sleepy with aching feelings in your bones
In short, you have a bad night's sleep and feel the consequences during the entire day.
Due to lack of sleep, numerous other problems can also appear:
- lower productivity at work
- less quality free time spent with family or friends
- general bad mood
- difficulty exercising
- gaining weight and ageing more quickly
- general dissatisfaction and less happiness over a long-term period.
Does this sound familiar?
If you’re not sleeping comfortably and soundly, it is most likely that you are not sleeping on the right mattress, or that the one you have is old and needs to be replaced.
What do you have to be careful about when selecting a new mattress?
Selection of a new mattress is not easy at all
Nowadays, there are many different kinds of mattresses available on the market (from the latest spring mattresses, water beds, mattresses from differently treated foams or latex), and their prices significantly differ (not always with regard to mattress quality).
Advanced materials are replacing the Classic mattresses
Classic mattresses have springs, which can cause specific pressure points to the body leading to discomfort and disturbed sleep, In contrast to springs, mattresses made from differently treated foams or latex, perfectly adapt to every part of your body. This enables longer and sounder sleep without frequent movement and changing body position.
Avoid dust mites, which are bad for your health
Entire colonies of dust mites, which feed on parts of the human skin are the main reason for the appearance of allergies and breathing problems, and tend to nest in classic mattresses.
Research has shown that on average a two-year-old mattress contains approximately two million live and dead dust mites, which turn into an invisible dust cloud every time we move. Unlike Classic mattresses, dust mites do not nest in mattresses made from differently treated foams or latex.
Several points to note when selecting a new mattress:
1. Does the mattress provide the right support for the body and spine?
The mattress must provide the best prevention against back and neck ache. It should also prevent pain in the joints and at the same time release tension from the whole body.
When choosing your new mattress you should ensure that the core material is elastic and point adaptable, which enables ergonomically better lying and the best support for your body and spine.
2. Does the mattress perfectly adapt to the shape and weight of your body (is it anatomical and orthopaedic)?
For a good night’s sleep we need a mattress which properly supports us and relieves the body and spine of the point pressure burdens. This means that the mattress should adapt to every part of our body and the pressure is equally distributed which enables longer and sounder sleep without constantly tossing and turning.
3. Is the mattress hypoallergenic (does it protect you from dust mites, fungi and other bacteria that may cause allergic reactions)?
In recent times, the number of people with allergies has been increasing. One of the most frequent causes of allergies in closed places is undoubtedly house dust mites. The main origin of house dust mites is mattresses as they provide the best conditions for their survival and procreation: heat, humidity and food.
Research has shown that on average a two-year-old mattress contains approximately two million live and dead dust mites, which turn into an invisible dust cloud every time we move. You should choose a mattress that will protect you from allergies and bacteria.
4. Is the mattress airy (does it provide microcirculation – air and heat circulation)?
The material in the mattress core should provide an airy sleeping climate with efficient humidity and heat regulation. This means the material that we lie on is composed of a substance which provides maximum air circulation, keeps humidity out and maintains warmth. Cold mattresses cause the body to use more energy to warm up, which lowers the quality of our sleep.
5. Does the mattress have protection against dust accumulation?
You should select a mattress which protects against dust accumulation, caused by a build up of static electricity. Electromagnetic smog is caused by various bodies which radiate electromagnetic waves: TV-signal, radio signal, power lines, electrical outlets. Textile, interlaced with carbon fibres prevents transmission of electromagnetic radiation through the fabric.
6. Is the mattress ecological (made from human and eco-friendly materials)?
The production of modern materials, unfortunately, has lead to an increased burden on our environment including the development of various substances which have a harmful effect on our wellbeing. This is why it is important to choose a mattress that complies with ecological standards in the textile industry.
7. Does the mattress have a long term warranty (considering the warranty applies to the core and not only the cover)?
A warranty that covers the mattress core means the supplier is obliged to replace the mattress core should it contain any kind of defects. A guarantee of 10 years or more is unusual but confirms the supplier is sure of the quality of their product.
8. How does the mattress compare with others in the same price range?
Before buying you should research the advantages of the mattress you are buying, and compare it with other mattresses in the same price range. You will find that some mattresses which seem similar are priced differently because of trademarks etc, which is not necessarily confirmation of the quality of the product alone.
9. Can you return the mattress free of charge if it doesn't suit you?
It is possible to purchase a mattress that doesn’t provide the comfort you expected. It is therefore useful to ask your supplier whether you can try the mattress at home with no fee or return it if is not suitable. This means you can test the mattress for several days and if you aren't satisfied with it, you can return it free of charge and without any explanations.
10. Does the supplier provide entire service – help and advice?
The right selection, delivery problems, payment method, possible return of the product …all this can turn into a real nightmare if you are not provided with the right service when selecting your mattress.
It is advisable to purchase from a supplier that provides a complete service. Not just the product but also easy ordering, payment methods to suit, personal delivery, warranty, easy return and also an aftercare service.

WHAT IS VISCO-ELASTIC MEMORY FOAM?
Unlike ordinary foam, the cells of visco-elastic memory foam leave an impression from every touch. When the pressure is gone, the foam slowly returns to original shape. The flexibility of the material relieves any pressure on the body and provides therapeutic benefits.
Memory foam is also temperature sensitive – when temperatures are lower, it is firmer (denser), when temperatures are higher, it is softer (more elastic). This gives us the feeling of "melting" into the foam or the feeling of weightlessness – when we lie on it, the foam adapts to our body temperature, softens and therefore perfectly adapts to our shape. Because of its adaptability, visco-elastic memory foam releases tension in the neck and spine.
As a result of the foam's "memory" moulding, a mattress, mattress topper etc will automatically adjust itself to your personal shape. In addition your weight will be distributed evenly across the whole mattress, thus avoiding painful pressure in one particular spot.
Therapeutic features
Unlike ordinary foam, the cells of visco-elastic memory foam will temporarily mould to a shape when pressed. When the pressure is released, the foam slowly returns to original shape. It is this flexibility that provides therapeutic benefits as it relieves any pressure on the body.
Exceptional feeling of weightlessness
Memory foam is also temperature sensitive – when temperatures are lower, it is firmer (denser), when temperatures are warmer, it is softer (more elastic). This gives us the feeling of "melting" into the foam or the feeling of weightlessness – once we lie on it, the foam adapts to our temperature, softens and therefore perfectly adapts to our shape. Due to its adaptability and elasticity, visco-elastic memory foam releases tension in the neck and spine.
Significantly improved sleeping quality
The unique features of memory foam distribute body weight evenly over the entire surface. The mattress perfectly adapts to the shape and position of the body and tension from the whole body is released. It significantly improves the quality of sleep, as there is no longer a need to change body position all the time. Once we get up, memory foam slowly returns to original shape.
